The life cycle of a turtle
Have you ever wondered why the numbers are decreasing for turtles?Well you question will be answer in this piece of explanation writing. You may think it is because we hunt or they get caught in fishing net and die of hunger then well you are right but the sea turtles are mainly dieing because of their life cycle yeah because of their life cycle if you're thinking what that girl is crazy take a look for yourself.
First of all the mother lays 1000 eggs a year and buries them in the sand. But only 800/1000 hatch they take 1 ½ months to hatch.
The 800 turtles that hatched start to crawl to the surf trying to avoid crabs, seagulls, falling in holes and many more. By the time that is finished only half of them is left. The 400 that are left crawl into the water. They are now swimming for the first time.
the 400 that hatched and did not get eaten by the crabs and seagulls are still very vulnerable for the predators in the sea that are awaiting them so the turtles hide in a patch of seaweed. the predators make their move and there are only 200 left that survive to breed without human interference. But only 2 are left to breed with human interference such as oil spills fishing net and much much more.
You now can see why there are so little turtles and the worst part to us is that we are in their life cycle! there are only 2 out of 1000 actually get to to lay their eggs. the same cycle repeats. please help us so not only 2 survive but more. Turtles have been alive longer than dinosaurs so let's not let them die out after all these years because of us.
great story LUCY!!!
