TRAPPED!!! By Lucy

                                   Trapped😱

Note:this is based on a true story. I wrote it while I was trapped in my house with a big slip blocking our way. I am Lia, Tara is Tia, Sam is Scott, Mum is Loreta and dad is Tim.

The wind howled through the night, as I lay in my soft comfortable bed all cold and shivering. I reached for my duvet, but it fell on the shaggy carpet."Oh well" I said as I slowly curled up in a ball, slower than a 500 year old turtle! "I'll just have to live through the cold, I'm tough. The night became darker and darker till my eyes where fully closed, I was drifting off into a deep deep sleep. I had a marvellous dream, I was at the ground work night show, with my baby Oscar! It was my turn, I walked out with my head held high, knowing that Oscar will not let me down. Oscar kept his promise and topped it all of with a clear round! The judges gave me a ten on every category so that means I was going to the internationals! Everybody started cheering: Lia Lia Lia. Wake up wake up! What what! It was Scott, w-h-a-t d-o y-o-u w-a-n-t I said slowly half asleep. SCHOOLS OUT he yelled in my ear. I sprang out of bed instantly and bolted through the lounge door, screaming at mum Show me the email that says that we are not going to school! She showed me the email and I said OK I believe you. I jumped to the air yelling SCHOOLS OUT! I ran around the house until dad made me ground to a halt. What do you think you are doing! You should be sad that you are missing out on your education! I jumped in fright as the back door slammed violently and dad said who left the back door open! I'm going to go for a walk informed dad. A few minutes later dad came back saying unfortunately we are trapped with no food! To be countinued. Today my dad was on the news you will see why when I show you.

On a quiet little day on a Tuesday afternoon nothing happened really until night banged on the clock It started burst with rain. THUNDER AND LIGHTNING struck. The next morning Everything was filled up with water  Roads, Paddocks, Houses and lakes were absolutely flooded of water. Helicopters started to surround the place to check out the place . Places were starting to get filled up very very fast. Than the rain stopped suddenly but the flood wasn't clearing up very much.School was cancelled because some people couldn't get to school and Clevedon was just a big river. The power went out know one could have showers have drinks  or go to the toilet. Some animals only had a little patch of dry land while the rest was complete water. Some animals drowned because of the water and some didn't have enough to run around and have exercise. This was terrible. The place went to custard.Than the power came on and the flood was starting to come back and on thursday school was going to come back on. Saddely some animals had died through the flood. The place was clearing up and all the water was coming back it was a miracle.

On Wednesday the 8th of March 2017 there was a flood tragedy In Kawakawa, Huna, Clevedon, Maraetai, Coromandel and Thames.

It started to rain at night on Tuesday. I woke in the morning and there was water water water everywhere. There was water on our deck under the portico, Mum got an email from the school saying that it was closed. Then we got up and got dressed. We figured that we had lost a sleeper from our path. We went down to the workshop and there was water puddles in the workshop we got the brooms and swept it out the door. Next we went to the neighbours and they had a waterfall of disgusting muddy, brown water falling into their creek.

Then my Ma and Da came over on their tractor. We got dressed in our wet weather and got on the tractor. Mum, Lizzie and Mack on the crate on the back and my Ma,Dad and I were on seats.  We drove up and looked at the Massive a slips. Then we drove up to the flood.

Then my dad got an alert from the boat club that boats had let go of the poles. Luckley our boat hadn't let go, so we moved her to pine harbour when my dad got back we had dinner with ma and Da.

The big day was over and everyone was safe. Nature can destroy land a lot!

The life cycle of a sea turtle

Did you know that sea turtles have been around since dinosaurs ruled earth?

Sea turtles are amazing animals but sadly they are nearly extinct because of us. The average sea turtle lays about 1000 leathery ping pong ball sized eggs a year in a hole dug high on the beach by it’s mother. 20% never hatch. After one and a half months the rest hatch and make a desperate dash for the ocean.

The ones that do hatch have more challengers like pitfalls, debris, crabs, raccoons and gulls claim around 50% of the turtles that hatch. 4OO make it to the water. So the ones that do make it to the water trade one threat for another now they battle small sharks and strong current. For the first couple of days the little baby sea turtles will stay under a little patch of floating seaweed.

200 of these progress to adult age without human inteference so now the only other sea life that are a threat to the sea turtle are larger sharks like bulls, tigers, whites and even the occasional killer whale so that only leaves 20 survive to breeding age without human interference. 2 survive to breeding age with human interference. So that means only 2 sea turtles survive out of 1000 eggs which I find hard to believe that they are still living today.

This means that we need to stop polluting our ocean so the sea turtle can still be around in the future.

The life cycle of a sea turtle 🐢

Did you know that the sea turtle has been around for 150 million years and they are still around but they are getting existent.

First a sea turtle comes up onto the beach and digs a big hole and lays 1000 eggs . Then covers them up with sand.(The eggs are as big as a ping pong ball.) Then one and a half months later 800 hatch.(When they are born they are as big as your hand.) Then the turtles have to make it to the water from predators. 400 make it to the water. Next the turtles have to get past other predators that are in the water but only 200 are on on there way to grow up now. Then 20 grow up without  human interference. 2 grow up with human interference.

There now you know the life cycle of these interesting animals. Please help these lovely animals. Overall 2/1000

the life of a sea turtle

Hawksbill Turtle                                          The life of a sea turtles

This is a life cycle of a sea turtle this might be sad because of the  numbers that survive but here is a fun fact that female turtles that survive to breeding age barely there eggs in the sand also did you know that the turtles that survive to breeding age come back to the same beach that they were born on to lay their eggs
First it starts with a surviving female
Turtle laying eggs and bearing her eggs in the sand

The eggs start playing to hatch and then they make their way to the sea some turtles survive but
400 only get to the ocean

Then they they get to teenage years.

Then they start to go to into breeding age 2 sea turtles survive to breeding age with human interference and 20 turtles survive without human interference

The remaining turtles breed there eggs and brewery there eggs in sand  also try your hardest to make sure that the sea creatures live for a long time

Sea Turtles Life Cycle by Rachel

The life of the sea turtle

Sea turtles are one of the most incredible species I know because of their life cycle.

First the female sea turtle lays over 1000 eggs in a breeding season and covers them up with sand.

Second 800 eggs hatch but 20% does not hatch. Then they make their way to the sea. Only 400 get there because of crabs that attack them, birds that want a meal and rubbish on the beach.

20 and make it to teenage years and get to breeding age.

Thirdly, 2% survive to breeding age.

This is why Sea Turtles are so incredible.

This article is about sea Turtles and how long they live it's not a very long time simply because of oil spills and pollution and all of that starts because of us humans also this article is  about how you can help the sea turtles live for a longer time. did you know that sea turtles have been around for roughly 150 000 000 years.

It all starts when a female Turtle crawls to land and digs a hole and then she lays the eggs and buries them. a female turtle can lay up to 1000 eggs but 200 dont survive.the eggs are  the size of ping pong balls.the survival rate of them is only 1% and that's all because of us humans.

When they get to 1 years old they are the size of a dinner plate. only 20 of them survive breeding age which isn't really much considering 800 of them hatched and were born.

Only 400 make to the water.there predators are crabs, dolphins, fish and much much more.did you know  when they get to 10 years of age they are the size of a dinner table? WOW thats pretty big!!!

Only 200 of them are on there way to breeding age  thats not alot.

Turtle can live up to 150 million years which is a really long time but not many of them do because of oil spills, chemicals and many other things so make a difference and help sea turtles!!!

The life cycle of a turtle By Lucy

The life cycle of a turtle

Have you ever wondered why the numbers are decreasing for turtles?Well you question will be answer in this piece of explanation writing. You may think it is because we hunt or they get caught in fishing net and die of hunger  then well you are right but the sea turtles are mainly dieing because of their life cycle yeah because of their life cycle if you're thinking what that girl is crazy  take a look for yourself.

First of all the mother lays 1000 eggs a year and buries them  in the sand. But only 800/1000 hatch they take 1 ½ months to hatch.
The 800 turtles that hatched start to crawl to the surf trying to avoid crabs, seagulls, falling in holes and many more. By the time that is finished only half of them is left. The 400 that are left crawl into the water. They are now swimming for the first time.
the 400 that hatched and did not get eaten by the crabs and seagulls are still  very vulnerable for the predators in the sea  that are awaiting them so the turtles hide in a patch of seaweed. the predators make their move and there are only 200 left  that survive to breed without human interference. But only 2 are left to breed with human interference such as oil spills fishing net and much much more.

You now can see why  there are so little turtles and the worst part to us is that we are in their life cycle! there are only  2 out of 1000 actually get to  to lay their eggs. the same cycle repeats. please help us so not only 2 survive but more. Turtles have been alive longer than dinosaurs so let's not let them die out after all these years because of us.

Did you know that the sea turtle has been around since the late Jurassic period, roughly 150 million years ago? That means that these creatures have been through a lot to survive. Now these beautiful animals are becoming extinct because of what is happening in the ocean, here is the life cycle of the sea turtle.

The mother sea turtle waddles up high on the beach, here she digs her hole and lays her 50-200 ping pong ball sized eggs. Then she buries them and waddles back to the ocean. 1.5 months later the es hatch but 20% of her eggs won’t hatch. The baby sea turtle the size of the palm of your hand scramble to the surface.

Then the babies make their desperate dash to the sea facing many predators such as crabs, gulls, holes in the sand and other threats will claim 50% of those who rose from the sand. Those that actually reach the sea find a whole new set of predators awaiting them some fish, dolphins sharks and more. the babies swim desperately forwards hoping to settle in a pat of seaweed. 50% of those who reach the surf will now perish from sea predators.

Their size will increase from a dinner plate at year one, to a dinner table at year ten. Now the sea turtles are size protected but they still have predators like some sharks and the occasional killer whale. After 20 years of life the turtles are ready to start the life cycle again.

in the last several decades human interference has really disturbed the sea turtles. beach development, plastic refuge, poaching, long lines, noxious chemicals including oil. This added human pressure which has pushed each of the eight sea turtles species into either threatened or endangered state.

In Conclusion the life cycle of the sea turtle is a long and hard process. So I’m sure you don’t what the cute harmless sea turtle become endangered just because of us. We need to think about our actions and make a difference.

She lays 1,000 eggs a year and 50,200 egg laid on a high place on the sand only 800 will hatch out of the 1,000. After a month they are lied the 800 will hatch roughly 20% will never hatch
of the 800 400 will make it to the water because animals like gulls, pitfalls, crabs, and raccoons will eat tho and also…..
The sea turtles have been around more than the dinosaurs were alive and do you know that 10 survive out of 1,000 without human interference but 2 survive with human interference. The cycle of the sea turtle.

She lays 1,000 eggs are laid a month and half later 800 hatch,400 make it to the water 200 make it to tenages 20 make it to breeding stage and 10 survive without human interference and 2  survive with human interference.
The End

The life cycle of a sea turtle

The life cycle of a sea turtle🐢

Do you like our shy shelled little friend that's been around since the

dinosaurs were around? So why are killing them all you might not know what

you are doing when you are doing it but the truth is by your interference

you are killing them all let me show you how they go down in numbers

through their life and watch what happens.
First the mother turtle lays 1000 ping pong shaped eggs. But what is very sad is only 800 of the eggs hatch about a month later. They are about the size to fit in your hand.400 hundred of them make it to the sparkling water following the light of the moon.while trying to dodge seagulls and crabs and getting caught in rubbish from us.

These remaining turtles keep going on there journey. While they move they hide in seaweed from big fish and dolphins.200 of them get to be teenagers so they are now the size of dinner plates.

Only 20 get to breeding age without human interference.2 survive with the human interference like pollution, littering, oil spills and over fishing but the one that hurts

So now you know what the sea turtle's life is like please do your part to save the sea turtle.SAVE THE SEA TURTLE!!!!!!!!!

Life Cycle Of The Turtle by Eva

Hey, have you ever wondered why hardly anyone ever sees turtles nowadays? Well, that is because… THEY ARE ALMOST EXTINCT!

This is the Life Cycle of a female turtle:
First the female turtle climbs up onto the shore and digs a huge hole and lays 1000 of her eggs then she buries them then makes her way back into the sea to wait for them to hatch in nine months.

But only about 800 hatch and only about half (400) make it to the sea because of the crabs and seagulls like to fly down and eat them. But then only 200 progress into adults because of all the sharks and the occasional killer whale. Then when all of those predators are all gone they have to deal with the harsh currents of the open ocean.

10 lay their eggs without human interference and 2 lay their without human interference so it is actually narrowed down from 1000 to 2.

So think about these poor creatures and their hard lives and please do not just stand there and do nothing and let them suffer, PLEASE HELP THEM!
