Life Cycle of a Sea Turtle

Did you know that turtles have been around longer than dinosaurs have? Now these gorgeous animals are dying because of us and other predators here is the life cycle of the sea turtle.

The mother turtle starts off by coming up onto the beach and starts to dig a hole so she can have her babies in. When she is done she will start to lay her eggs. She is now off and lets her babies teach themselves when they are able to go into the ocean.

The mother turtle lays up to 1000 of her eggs under the sand during a breeding period. The eggs are the size of ping pong balls, they are very small compared to other types of eggs. One and a half months later the eggs hatch but 20 percent of the the eggs don't hatch.   

400 of them make it into the water because first they have to get past predators such as crabs, birds, holes in the sand and dogs on the beach. Now 20 turtles are going through breeding stage because they have made it into the water. To get away from predators they hide under some seaweed and they have a bit to eat.

2 survived through human interference such as oil, fishing and rubbish and without human interference so that means they were swimming freely with nothing in there way.

Therefore these creatures are endangered because of what is happening in the water because of predators and what we are doing to our sea so please try and help these amazing animals that deserve to have an amazing life.
